How to choose resorts among resorts

Many people believe that if they choose to stay in a best resort it will be all good. As a chronic best resort researcher, I find much too often that "5 Stars" does not equal a good resort.

So, to choose a best resort that really lives up to the luxury name, I recommend these steps.

1. Research resorts on a website that focuses on resorts - separate hotels from resorts. This will save a lot of frustration and time. If you don't mind staying in a hotel though you can look anywhere.

2. Research resorts on a website with a human editor. If someone has already taken the time to weed out the bad ones, it will save you a lot of time.

3. Make a short list of what is most important to you in a best resort. For example, golfing, spa, snorkeling, etc. It will help you narrow down your options. Many resorts have the same kinds of things but you want to make sure you can do the activities that are really important to you.

4. Choose your top 3 to 5 resorts.

5. Read the reviews! Go to a travel website these days, and read what past guests are saying. You can find out much more sometimes about the resort for reviews than from the actual resort website.

6. Take a look around for prices. We use Hotels Combined to compare prices. It compares over 30 travel websites at once. Great time saver!
